We will take an individualized approach where the therapy will be adapted to meet your needs and goals. This will involve looking at what you do and how you think about things. You would then be supported to move out of a low mood cycle with both cognitive and behavioural approaches that are customised based on your goals and circumstances. Alongside this we would also consider aspects of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) which would look at cultivating your self-compassion and self-esteem.
Depending on the causes and symptoms, we will take an approach that considers what is specific to your difficulties. Causes of anxiety can be wide-ranging so we will take time to explore various aspects including thought-processes and physical symptoms related to your anxiety. The aim is to help you develop the skills and confidence to reduce the impact anxiety is having on your life in the long-term.
For those over 65, finding things increasingly difficult can have a variety of underlying causes. This might include feeling more isolated or lonely, noticing changes in your thinking or memory, finding it hard to process certain life events, or struggling to adapt to physical changes or recent diagnoses.
We can explore the challenges you are facing and consider what might be helpful to make the right changes or get the right support.
